​Does the EF2000iSCH Have any Shortcomings?

The biggest shortcoming is the power of the Yamaha EF2000iSCH. Coming at a max of 2,000 Watts, don’t plug in each and every appliance in your house or RV camper simultaneously and expect it to run everything. It can also be hard to start this unit and you may want to have several practice runs at home rather than waiting until sunset when you are on the other side of the lake or mountain!

The Yamaha EF2000iSCH generator is only capable of producing a maximum of 1600 Watts although it can hit close to 2000 Watts for about a minute or so. However, the overload indicator comes on when it goes any longer than a minute. Once illuminated the breaker trips and your generator revs down. Until it’s restarted, you will be without electricity.

The higher portability features translate to lower size and power effectively meaning that if you want a generator that can power a relatively big home or during power outages, this may not be your best option.

It’s portable, efficient, quiet, and well-engineered for maximum power. Just don’t expect it to power everything in your entire household for a full day but as long as it’s bought for the right practical reasons, I see no reason why it will not make you happy.

Carrying the Yamaha 2000 generator around is easy as it weighs below 50 pounds and storing is convenient as it is just 2.2 cubic feet in terms of size.
